What should I do if my trading-account balance is negative?

Check profile-wide eligibility for negative balance clearing, required account conditions, the effect of approval, and how to request a review.

A negative balance is not cleared automatically or for one trading account in isolation. Under the policy effective from 15 July 2026, eligibility is assessed across the account holder's entire FXTRADING.com profile.

What should I check first?

  1. Sign in to your FXTRADING.com Client Portal.

  2. Check the affected Live Account's balance, equity, positions, pending orders, and transaction history.

  3. Review all other eligible accounts and wallets connected with the same profile.

  4. Confirm that there are no open positions or pending orders and that all deposits, withdrawals, transfers, redemptions, and other fund movements are fully settled.

  5. Check for a negative balance clearing or review action in the Client Portal.

When may the profile be eligible?

The combined net equity across all eligible accounts and wallets must be below zero. Positive and negative balances are combined for the account holder as a whole, so a negative balance in one Live Account does not by itself establish eligibility.

The calculation can include Live Accounts, Funds Management accounts, Social Trading accounts, Investment Wallets, and Partner Wallets.

What happens if clearing is approved?

All eligible positive and negative balances covered by the approved request are reset to zero. You cannot request clearing for only the negative account while keeping a positive eligible balance elsewhere in the profile.

Assets held as an Investor in a fund, and amounts in a Fund Manager's managed account that are not your own funds, are not currently included in the clearing scope.

How do I request a review?

If the Client Portal displays a negative balance clearing or review action, open it and follow the instructions. The action may be unavailable while positions, orders, transactions, credit, compliance review, or another account condition remains unresolved.

For account-specific help, sign in to the Client Portal, open Service Hub from the left navigation menu, select Create Ticket, and choose the category and issue that best match your request.

What should I do while the request is reviewed?

Do not open new positions, place new orders, or initiate deposits, withdrawals, transfers, redemptions, or other fund movements while the request is being assessed. These actions can change eligibility or delay the review.

What information should I provide?

  • your profile and affected account number;

  • the displayed balances and equity;

  • the status of positions and pending orders;

  • any pending deposit, withdrawal, transfer, or redemption;

  • the exact account status or error; and

  • the relevant date and time with time zone.

Never provide a trading password or one-time code.

Does negative balance clearing replace risk management?

No. Leveraged trading can produce rapid losses, and stop-out or negative balance clearing does not guarantee that losses will be limited in every circumstance. You remain responsible for monitoring positions, margin, and account risk.
